On friday I went with my course group on a coach to london to see the Mac Expo.

Upon Initial arrival all seemed well and good, albeit the venue was a bit on the small side

in comparison to other such events I have previously attended. Never the Less unphased by this,

possibly due to the lengthy coach ride from Bournemouth to London, high lighted only by the 15 minute pit stop at fleet, giving me enough time to purchase a Bacon and Egg McMuffin which had an extra special slice of Egg Shell to add to the flavor, GODDAM MC DONALDS. my adivce never make a purchase from McDonalds, the only thing worse than their cabury endorsed Doughnut yes Dougnut i’m not a ‘donut’ eating american. was the Egg Shell mcmuffin.

anyway, the Mac Expo, pretty good aside from the lack of anyone from Apple Mac actually being there to give the regularly billed talks/lectures.

The Plus sides to the Expo aside from obtaining Free things, like a stress ball, chapstick and a ruler designed to apparently measure how big my manhood is with indicators such as ‘ummm’ ‘a bit better’ ‘getting there’ ‘almost, almost’ and ‘YES YES YES!’. C’mon OKI printing solutions what does measuring my Schlong in Inches have to do with the ability to Print on A3.

On a more serious note, I did see a rather amazingly cool Wacom Tablet. Called the Cintiq, which ranges from the oh so affordable £829.99 to the even cheaper £2,231.33. However it was rather awewome in as much it was effectivel a touch screen PC monitor for your lap or desktop. bit better than a mouse I’d say. Also the nice chap at the wacom stand also let slip that paying extra for the tablets that come with a mouse is a BIG waste of money….He couldn’t have been serious could he? It does seem however worth while getting one with the airbrush tool. very nice.

There were also a couple of Photoshop plug in applications which seemed really cool. they were in basic terms applications to make masking as easy as wetting yourself but nowhere near as messy. one was called Fluid Mask 3 and the other was called something i cant remember. but they essentially both did the same thing just in a slightly different looking way. Select types of colours (i’m really not American) you want removed and then brush over specific area with no real worry just mask a bloody great block if you want and it only masks out the colours you want. The two examples are saw were one of a Man with mental hair having the background masked out so that you couldn’t see any trace of the background in the fiddly bits of his behemoth of a wig. and the other was of a nylon see through dress having all the background masked but leaving all the see through material intact. very impressive, although she was on a black background which made it a bit easier.

Other stuff I saw included multiple ways of running windows and microsoft applications on a mac. Including Windows in a Window, which was by a company called VMware. not sure I entirely see any great need for this, but still was quite interesting to see.

Also a new(to me) software called Rapidweaver 4.0 which is basically Dreamweaver for people what cant be bothered.

it enables you to chose from a database of basic website templates, drag and drop images or files to where you want them on the page. all quite simply. and if you want you can edit the code in a really tiny html code editor on the side of the screen.

everything else was different ways to play your Ipod loudly. oh and the IRISpen express 6, which James thought looked like a pregnancy test. Infact he said this so louldy that we had to leave and come back to the bloke on the stand to talk about it later, due to his inability to stop laughing. bit funny. its a pen sized scanner for typed documents on paper, but it imports it into word or other writing application as editable text, more like the voice recognition typing tools, than a scanner.

that was about it really, after a couple of hours we realised Mac werent coming and went and found a Pub.Had a few beers, came back to the bus via Game and I played Zelda on my DS till we got back to winton.

who says good cant come from bad.
